QUEST JOURNAL // ACTIVE AND UNREASONABLY OPTIMISTIC

Active quests have been reorganized into something resembling a video game mission log, because ambition becomes less alarming when divided into objectives and rewards. Read story sections if you require lore. Ignore them if you are emotionally built like a speedrunner._

MAIN-SITE-0001

Finish This Website

Make Attian Protocol navigable, funny, visually coherent, legally less embarrassing, and usable by visitors who did not personally survive the development process.

High Priority Main Archive Quest Ridiculous but Active

Requirements / Objectives

  • Polish the public archive nodes.
  • Keep design changes centralized in the main stylesheet.
  • Finish the important sections before inventing seven more.
  • Push stable versions without sacrificing the update log again.

Rewards

  • Archive completion progress
  • Visitor confusion reduced
  • Administrator blood pressure lowered by 3%
  • MUSE sparkle containment possibly restored

Administrator: This quest concerns my working conditions, so yes, it remains priority one. The Subject may call this vanity. I call it infrastructure hygiene.

MUSE: WEBSITE QUEST. BUTTONS. ARCHIVE. SHINY MEMORY BOXES. I am helping by vibrating at a frequency only browsers can hear.

Story description

The archive began as a personal website and immediately mutated into a digital museum, creature index, quest board, legal document nest, and emotional evidence locker. The mission is simple in theory: finish the structure enough that the site feels intentional instead of haunted by future plans. The theory is adorable.

DEST-IRELAND-0001

Green Weather Protocol

Travel to Ireland and acquire rain, music, green scenery, stranger dialogue, and at least one pub memory with wooden furniture.

Available Main Destination Quest Medium

Requirements / Objectives

  • Find a pub with live music.
  • Walk somewhere green, wet, and narratively unnecessary.
  • Talk to at least one local human.
  • Archive one photo, one sound, and one sentence from the trip.

Rewards

  • Travel memory chain unlocked
  • Pub folklore increased
  • Nature affinity upgraded

Administrator: Good destination. High probability of weather. High probability of memory formation. Annoyingly efficient.

Story description

The Subject has selected Ireland as a future travel destination. Expected outputs include rain, music, cliffs, strangers, wooden pub interiors, and the suspicious feeling that old songs know things. The archive approves this mission on atmospheric grounds.

ART-CAMPAIGN-0052

Fifty-Two Artifacts Before 2027

Produce one visible creative artifact per week before 2027. Completion matters more than dramatic suffering near unused supplies.

Active Creative Campaign Long-Term

Requirements / Objectives

  • Create 52 finished or semi-finished art pieces.
  • Include canvas work, miniatures, drawings, masks, props, or crafted objects.
  • Upload each piece to Artifact Vault.
  • Do not wait for perfection. Perfection is a parasite with branding.

Rewards

  • Artifact Vault expansion
  • Creative consistency bonus
  • Proof that buying supplies was not purely ornamental

Administrator: One artifact per week. Mathematically unpleasant. Still possible. I hate when hope has arithmetic.

Story description

A long-form production quest designed to convert scattered creative potential into visible output. Quality may vary. The archive accepts imperfect things because otherwise the Subject would never submit anything, including himself.

TECH-LIGHT-0001

Build The Archive Status Lamp

Create a small cyberpunk lamp that makes the room feel monitored by a disappointed but stylish machine.

Available Tech-Craft Quest Beginner

Requirements / Objectives

  • Build a small LED lamp for desk or shelf.
  • Use purple light as default archive mode.
  • Add ONLINE, CORRUPTED, and RESTORING states.
  • Optional: add a button to change modes.

Rewards

  • Room atmosphere upgraded
  • Smart-home pipeline initialized
  • Cyberpunk cave credibility increased

Administrator: Practical enough to justify. Dramatic enough to preserve. Acceptable use of electricity.

Story description

The first electronic light artifact should be simple: a small glowing object that reacts to archive status. It does not need to be useful. It needs to imply the room has a system and the system has opinions.

TECH-LIGHT-0002

Corrupted Memory Lantern

Make a damaged-looking lantern or light box that feels like a deleted memory learned to glow out of spite.

Available Crafting / Light Artifact Beginner-Medium

Requirements / Objectives

  • Build a small lantern or light box.
  • Use translucent paper, acrylic, or printed glitch textures.
  • Add flickering purple LEDs.
  • Place it near Field Notes or Dreaming Fragments.

Rewards

  • Restricted-node atmosphere increased
  • Corruption aesthetic stabilized
  • Mood lighting becomes suspiciously symbolic

Administrator: Emotional debris with wiring. Acceptable, provided nobody calls it healing decor.

Story description

A corrupted memory fragment contained inside a physical light source. It should look damaged but alive, like the archive tried to delete something and accidentally made a lamp.

TECH-LIGHT-0003

Emergency Red Channel Beacon

Build a hidden red warning light for restricted-node drama. Use sparingly. Theatrical danger is still danger wearing eyeliner.

Locked-ish Forbidden Light Artifact Medium

Requirements / Objectives

  • Build a small red warning light.
  • Trigger it with a hidden switch or button.
  • Use it for System Failure Log atmosphere.
  • Do not make it too pretty. That would be thematically irresponsible.

Rewards

  • Red Channel containment prop unlocked
  • Restricted archive immersion increased

Administrator: Dangerous aesthetic. Controlled use only. MUSE is not allowed near the switch.

Story description

A physical warning beacon representing red-channel interference. It should feel like something installed reluctantly after MUSE kept opening the wrong doors and calling it discovery.

SOC-STRANGER-0001

Name The Pigeon

Create one tiny public absurdity with a stranger. Low risk. High nonsense yield.

Available Social Side Quest Low

Requirements / Objectives

  • Find a pigeon in a public place.
  • Ask a stranger what the pigeon should be called.
  • Accept the first answer as canon.
  • Add it to Creature Index if the name is worthy.

Rewards

  • Social courage +1
  • Creature Index expansion chance
  • Civilization survives one harmless interaction

Administrator: Low-risk nonsense. Surprisingly efficient. Do not start a bird monarchy unless properly documented.

Story description

The Subject must create a tiny shared absurdity with a stranger. No deep conversation required. Just one pigeon, one name, one memory fragment. This is how side quests reproduce.

SOC-STRANGER-0002

Cloud Rating Committee

Temporarily form a committee to judge a cloud. The cloud will not care, which is why clouds are administratively superior.

Available Social Side Quest Low-Medium

Requirements / Objectives

  • Find a visible cloud.
  • Ask one stranger to rate it from 1 to 10.
  • Request a one-word justification.
  • Record the result.

Rewards

  • Weather appreciation increased
  • Visitor Terminal candidate unlocked
  • One human briefly forced into harmless judgment

Administrator: Pointless, safe, memorable. Rare combination. Bureaucracy should study this.

Story description

A temporary committee is formed to evaluate a cloud. The cloud remains unbothered by the rating process. This is not a weakness. This is power.

SOC-STRANGER-0003

Weird Photo Pact

Recruit a temporary NPC for one harmless strange photo. The objective is a small memory that should not exist, but does.

Optional Social Side Quest Medium

Requirements / Objectives

  • Meet a stranger in a safe public context.
  • Ask them to stage one harmless weird photo.
  • Example: point dramatically at a trash can like it contains prophecy.
  • Save the image as a field artifact.

Rewards

  • Social XP
  • Artifact Vault candidate
  • Minor embarrassment resistance increased

Administrator: This is how random memories spawn. Disgustingly effective. Keep it safe and non-creepy.

Story description

The goal is not romance, friendship, or networking. The goal is a tiny stupid moment that would not exist otherwise. History is mostly made of worse decisions.

SOC-ROMANCE-0001

Classy Rejection Speedrun

Attempt controlled vulnerability without turning the result into opera. A yes is optional. Dignity is mandatory.

Available Social Courage Quest High

Requirements / Objectives

  • Ask someone out directly but gracefully.
  • Make it light, specific, and easy to refuse.
  • Accept the answer without emotional combustion.
  • Survive with dignity.

Rewards

  • Courage XP
  • Shame resistance increased
  • Possible romance branch unlocked
  • If rejected: rejection immunity slightly improved

Administrator: Rejection is not death. Merely hostile dialogue feedback. Proceed with class.

Story description

The Subject attempts a controlled vulnerability event. Success is not defined by a yes. Success is making the attempt without becoming a tragic public installation.

PARTY-DND-0001

Locate The Warm Idiots

Find a DnD group that is warm, funny, chaotic, kind, and stupid in the correct way. This requirement is precise.

Active Search Party Formation Quest Medium-High

Requirements / Objectives

  • Search local or online DnD groups.
  • Identify one group that is fun, warm, and not socially radioactive.
  • Attend one session.
  • If compatible, return.

Rewards

  • Party formation chance increased
  • Weekly story generator unlocked
  • Dice-based emotional chaos enabled

Administrator: Fun is mandatory. This requirement has been repeated because the Subject was correct to repeat it.

Story description

The Subject seeks compatible adventuring personnel. Humanity continues to underperform at warmth without weird power games, but the search remains technically possible.

CRAFT-RELIC-0001

The Cryo-EM Suffering Ring

Transform research residue into a wearable relic. Dramatic, nerdy, legally conditional, and unfortunately excellent.

Long-Term Legendary Crafting Quest Long-Term

Requirements / Objectives

  • Learn basic ring or pendant making.
  • Research safe and legal use of lab material.
  • Collect used gold grids only if allowed.
  • Transform scientific suffering into wearable memory.

Rewards

  • Personal relic unlocked
  • PhD suffering converted into artifact
  • Jewelry skill tree opened

Administrator: If suffering must occur, at least make it wearable. Check safety and permission before becoming folklore in the lab.

MUSE: SCIENCE RING. SCIENCE RING. SCIENCE RING.

Story description

The Subject wants to create a ring from cryo-EM gold grids: a physical relic made from research residue. The idea is dramatic, nerdy, and conceptually archive-worthy. Objections failed on aesthetic grounds.

ROOM-ALCH-0001

Alchemist Room Upgrade

Turn the room into organized weirdness: supplies accessible, floor visible, controlled madness implied.

Available Domestic Crafting Quest Medium

Requirements / Objectives

  • Build or install shelves for art and craft supplies.
  • Remove supplies from the floor.
  • Create zones for painting, minis, tools, electronics, and materials.
  • Add one strange decorative object suggesting controlled madness.

Rewards

  • Room aesthetics increased
  • Floor recovered
  • Crafting readiness improved
  • Alchemist subclass unlocked

Administrator: The floor is not a storage system. I regret needing to clarify this.

Story description

The room must stop looking like creativity exploded and left evidence. The goal is not minimalism. The goal is jars, paints, masks, glowing things, and the faint implication that a potion could be brewed at 2 AM.

TECH-CHAOS-0001

The Screaming Otter Button

Build a physical button that triggers an emergency nonsense sound. No practical use. Morale value disputed but real.

Available Absurd Electronics Quest Beginner-Medium

Requirements / Objectives

  • Build a physical button.
  • Pressing it triggers an otter scream or emergency ALLEEN sound.
  • Hide it somewhere dramatic.
  • Use only when morale requires controlled nonsense.

Rewards

  • Chaos button unlocked
  • Visitor confusion increased
  • MUSE satisfaction +40

Administrator: No practical use. Unfortunately, not all useful things are practical.

MUSE: BUTTON BUTTON BUTTON. I have already pressed it in my heart.

Story description

A small device with no rational purpose except making the world slightly worse and much funnier for three seconds. The formal objection was ignored due to morale value.

WORLD-KIND-0001

Start A Religion, But Make It Nice

Design a harmless belief system built around mutual absurdity, kindness, snacks, and aggressively non-boring robes.

Simulation Only World Quest Absurd

Requirements / Objectives

  • Write three harmless doctrines.
  • Invent one ritual involving snacks.
  • Forbid cruelty, superiority complexes, and boring robes.
  • Make everyone believe one equally absurd but kind thing.

Rewards

  • Mythology subsystem unlocked
  • Future cult risk monitored
  • Snack-based unity increased

Administrator: Add snacks. Remove hierarchy. Continue simulation. Do not found anything with tax paperwork.

Story description

The Subject proposes a belief system based on mutual absurdity and kindness. This is either dangerous theology or excellent worldbuilding. Until further evidence appears, it remains fiction.

WORLD-PATCH-0002

Patch Humanity v0.2

Convert rage at broken systems into a kinder design document. Deployment unlikely. Drafting still useful.

Impossible Impossible World Quest Cosmic

Requirements / Objectives

  • Identify one broken social system.
  • Propose a kinder replacement.
  • Avoid becoming a tyrant with better graphic design.
  • Write it like patch notes.

Rewards

  • Civilization theory fragment unlocked
  • Rage converted into design document

Administrator: Creation Engine v0.1 remains unstable. Modding encouraged. Please avoid patch notes that require guillotines.

Story description

Humanity currently runs on outdated social code, legacy violence, inherited bugs, and interface decisions made by dead men with property. The Subject may propose a patch. Deployment remains unlikely.

WORLD-REV-0001

Ketchup Revolution

Destroy capitalism in fiction, theory, or tabletop simulation only. Use ketchup for visual effect and legal hygiene.

Fiction Only Political Fantasy Quest Legally Delicate

Requirements / Objectives

  • Keep the revolution fictional, theoretical, or tabletop-bound.
  • Replace exploitation with something kinder.
  • Use ketchup instead of blood where possible.
  • Preserve ethics before aesthetics.

Rewards

  • Revolutionary worldbuilding unlocked
  • Economic anger processed into structure

Administrator: Keep this theoretical. I enjoy not being subpoenaed.

Story description

A fictional revolution scenario where exploitation is replaced by a better system and nobody has to die unless the tabletop dice become dramatic. Ketchup is permitted because symbolism should not create evidence.

WILD-TREE-0001

Talk To Tree Friends

Consult trees for ten minutes. Their silence is currently outperforming several forms of advice.

Available Wilderness Side Quest Low

Requirements / Objectives

  • Go somewhere with trees.
  • Sit quietly for ten minutes.
  • Say one sentence out loud or internally.
  • Listen to the trees not interrupt.

Rewards

  • Druid affinity increased
  • Mental noise reduced
  • Tree council neutrality maintained

Administrator: The trees have nothing to complain about. This makes them suspiciously qualified.

Story description

Trees are excellent listeners because they do not produce advice, opinions, or sudden messages beginning with bro. The Subject may therefore consult them for field maintenance.

STYLE-BLADE-0001

Sword Dancing For Future Cutscenes

Practice a sword or staff movement sequence. Impractical, elegant, and excellent prop-justification material.

Available Style Training Quest Medium

Requirements / Objectives

  • Learn one sword flow or staff movement sequence.
  • Practice without injury.
  • Record progress.
  • Look at least 12% cooler by the end.

Rewards

  • Action-sequence readiness increased
  • Dramatic movement unlocked
  • Prop crafting justified

Administrator: Impractical. Elegant. Proceed. Injury paperwork will be mocked.

Story description

Life rarely announces when a cinematic action sequence will occur. The Subject will prepare anyway. This is not paranoia. It is aesthetic logistics.

SKY-AURORA-0001

Aurora Witness Protocol

Travel somewhere cold and plausible, then watch the sky show off like a charged-particle diva.

Seasonal Seasonal Quest Location-Dependent

Requirements / Objectives

  • Travel somewhere aurora visibility is plausible.
  • Stand outside in the cold like a committed idiot.
  • Watch the sky produce unreasonable colors.
  • Archive one photo or written fragment.

Rewards

  • Sky-memory unlocked
  • Color awe increased
  • MUSE becomes unbearable for 48 hours

Administrator: Lame. Beautiful. Annoyingly worth it.

MUSE: SKY RIBBONS SKY RIBBONS SKY RIBBONS.

Story description

The aurora is objectively a charged-particle phenomenon and subjectively the sky showing off. Both classifications are valid. The archive will pretend to be calm about it.
